Misinterpreting Communication
Communication is difficult be it talking, writing, or even TV programs. I'm amazed how people can even watch the same episode of a TV program, and disagree what happened in the episode when it seemed well written. People disagree who the characters are and it makes me wonder if my interpretation of what happened is what the writers intended or if they were trying to communicate something else even when it just seems plain and obvious from my perspective.
What I write and what anyone writes has the possibility of being misinterpreted by someone. I read something on the internet in trying to do a research paper and thought after reading a sentence, that I had found an opposing view point from what I had read before. I thought I could write a paper on the different view points that I had found, but when I compared the exact sentences together, I realized that It was the same view point, not a different one. Then I had to keep researching.
My own efforts one time failed when I wrote for school. I predicted my teachers interpretation as a possibility and purposely wrote a sentence to counter act that thought. My teacher got the contradiction that I wanted her to get, but she thought that I accidently wrote the sentence wrong, counting off points for it when, in fact, she did not understand the rest of my paper. Sometimes I think that if you have all the clues, you can figure out what somebody means if you regard everything they say as true, but not everybody understands. Some people jump to conclusions.
When people try to tell the truth, sometimes they don't always think of every which way that it can be interpreted, or they assume that you will just be able to figure out what they meant by it. They might just casually say something or write something. Thus, just because you can prove a sentence to be false in one way, does not mean it is false in another way. As before even well thought out words can be misinterpreted by someone. So if you think an honest person wrote something, trying to find which way the statement is true is key to understanding what they meant.
However, there are people out there with agendas who will lie for the purpose of misleading you. If something seems false or can be proven false in a way, it should be asked "How can this be true?", "What did the author intend?", "Why would they mislead me or lie to me?" or "What benefit would they have to mislead me?" If there is no benefit for someone to lie to you, then it is mostly like just a misunderstanding of some kind.
I have said things which were truthful statements to someone who immediately pointed out 2 ways of misinterpreting what I said that I didn't think of before hand. I've always wanted to just relax when I'm talking and not have to think up all the different ways what I'm saying can be misinterpreted. It's easy to get into fights when misinterpretations happen. I guess sensing types don't use intuition to understand people and want specifics. I wonder if anyone misinterprets this.
